I'm taking part in the Great North Run as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year.
My little girl Olive was just 25 days old when an MRI had confirmed our news, she’d had a neonatal stroke straight after birth. This has left Olive with brain damage to her left frontal lobe and no actual understand of where her development will go from there. Until dealing with this news I didn’t even know it was possible for children to have a stroke never mind a new born baby but the trauma of birth left her with this life changing diagnosis.
We take each day in our stride with Olive although she’s delayed in her development she is the strongest little angel I’ve ever known, I know every milestone she hits the work she’s put into getting there makes me the proudest parent in the whole world.
This is for you pud, I want to raise awareness and as much money as possible for stroke association, in particular neonatal strokes, something so close to my heart.
