Fundraising and sponsorship
Can I have some fundraising materials?
Of course, please contact our Supporter Relations team who will put in you in touch with your event lead to discuss your fundraising plans. They’ll be able to give you tips and advice on what materials we have to best support you.
Alternatively you can visit our online shop to order any materials that might take your fancy!
Can I hand my sponsorship money in on the day of an event?
Please do not bring your sponsorship money on the day of the event as we will not be able to accept it.
If you have any cash we recomend paying this into your own bank account and making a bank transfer. More information about paying in money can be found here.
How do I send my sponsorship money to you?
If your fundraising is on an online fundraising page, the money comes directly to the Stroke Association, so there is nothing more you need to do!
We ask people not to send us cash through the post, as there's a risk of it getting lost along the way. We advise you to pay the money into your own account instead and then either pay the money into an online giving page. Alternatively you can transfer the money into our account. Our bank details are:
Account number: 73083772
Sort code: 20 00 00
Please make sure to use your unique reference number when you make the payment. If you are not sure what this is, please phone our Supporter Relations team on 0300 330 0740 and they will advise you.
If you have cheques from your fundraising, please send with a brief cover letter, including your name and the event you have fundraised for, to: Supporter Relations Team, Stroke Association, 1 Sterling Business Park, Salthouse Road, Northampton, NN4 7EX.
If you haven't yet reached your target, don't panic! That's where we come in. We are here to offer support, advice and ideas to help you reach your pledged target.
What happens if I have a charity place and don’t reach the minimum sponsorship?
Once you've secured your Charity Place, we will be on hand to support you and make sure you have everything you need to help you smash your fundraising target.
You will have four weeks after the event to complete your fundraising and collect in any last sponsorship donations.
If you have not met the target you will be encouraged to continue fundraising until it is met (for example, hosting a bake sale).
Can I fundraise for you and another charity with a Stroke Association charity place?
As per the terms and conditions when you registered for a charity place with the Stroke Association, all money raised for the event must solely be for the Stroke Association.
If you would like to fundraise for us and another charity, please secure your ‘own place’ from the event organiser’s website directly first.
Event registration
I’ve got my own place in an event but want to run for you, what do I do?
If you have already secured your place directly from the event organisers and want to join #TeamStroke you can do so by filling in an 'own place' registration for that event on our wesbiste.
You'll get all the same support and fundraising materials as those with a charity place and there's no minimum sponsorship, however everything you do raise will help us to rebuild lives after stroke.
What is a token/console? How do I secure/redeem my charity place?
As part of your charity place registration we make sure your place is reserved in the event.
But you will still need to complete your registration with the event organiser to fully secure your place. Details of how to do this, and the deadline to do so by, will be provided with plenty of time before the event date – this may be in the form of an email with a unique registration link for you to complete (we sometimes refer to this as your “token” or “completing the console”), or a discount code where you will need to go to the organiser’s website to enter.
Please note that failure to register with the event organiser may result in your charity place being lost and you will not be entitled to a refund of any registration fee or fundraising already paid.
I can no longer take part in my event, can I transfer my place to someone else?
As per our terms and conditions when you registered for a charity place with the Stroke Association, your charity place can’t be transferred to any other person.
I can no longer do the event, can I defer to next year or to another event?
As per the terms and conditions when you registered for a charity place with the Stroke Association, we can’t defer your place to next year or other event and you will not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
If you would like to discuss your place in more detail please contact our Supporter Relations team.
