Swim for Stroke

I'm taking part in the Swim for Stroke challenge!

I joined #TeamStroke for Swim for Stroke.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My updates

Let's get started :)

Wednesday 20th May
Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be starting the swim for stroke challenge. This involves swimming 21 miles by the end of June - equivalent to the width of the English Channel. Every morning I will be swimming 50 lengths of a 25-metre pool in Maindy to make this happen. I will be posting my progress and keeping you all updated! It will be hard but with your support I'm hoping to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.
To give an idea of the impact we could make:
£80 could pay for a stroke survivor to attend a six-week computer course and learn vital communication information to support their recovery.
£217 could pay for the Stroke Helpline for one hour, helping the families of stroke survivors support their loved ones.
£300 could allow a befriending volunteer to work with a stroke survivor for up to a year. They might go with them on a regular bus journey until they feel confident enough to go on their own.
£500 could help pay for a five-year Senior Lectureship Award - a critical research role that facilitate life-changing discoveries to prevent and treat stoke.
£800 could pay for our trained volunteers to introduce My Stroke Guide to stroke clubs and groups across the country for a year.
£1,685 could help us to train a fitness coach to provide specific exercise rehabilitation, empowering stroke survivors with the confidence and techniques to begin and continue exercising.
I know money is tight for everyone at the moment but if you could sponsor me, even £2 could make a huge difference and I would really appreciate it! Help encourage me through this and make a difference in the lives of those who have suffered a stroke or their relatives. Please share this on to anyone who may want to sponsor me, it is much appreciated!
