I'm taking part in the Swim for Stroke challenge!
I joined #TeamStroke for Swim for Stroke.
In loving memory of my beautiful mother in law Linda and my precious Granny. I will never forget the day I witnessed my Granny's stroke or the helplessness that I felt. My sister Claire was a complete rock and stayed by her side. I needed to get away and direct an ambulance to be helpful but I never forgot 'the signs'.
Fast forward to 2020, Aaron had just been born and my beautiful mother in law was admitted to hospital. My husband, kids, baby and I rushed to London. Rearranged our daughters 3rd birthday that family and friends showed up to in a rainy London park. Linda desperately wanted to meet her new Grandson so with all the will and strength only she could muster she came home.(COVID restrictions meant limited visitation). That night I witnessed the impact of a stroke again. I won't go into details for her family will read my account but late at night I once again stood on a London street with a newborn baby directing an ambulance. Saying the Lord's prayer. I wasn't helpless this time and my medical husband was definitely better with his Mama.
I'm going to swim 13 miles in September as a tribute to both of these very important people.
Thank you for all sponsoring me and helping to support stroke survivors (like my Auntie).
Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
