There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Hi everyone, I’m running the Cardiff Half in October 2026 (a year after my first ever half marathon). This time I’m doing it for the Stroke Association in memory of my grandad, David Reginald Vanner, who suffered a stroke in 2021 and 2024. Sadly, the latter one claimed the better of him. He was a monumental figure in my upbringing and my life as a whole. In his memory I’d love to make him proud of myself by doing this. I aim to spread the message clearer, if I can do it, so can you! We’ve got to believe in ourselves more in a society that expects perfection.
