I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke
The 7th September will always be a date that stops me in my tracks. The 7th September 2023 was the day I nearly lost my beloved husband and best friend from a life threatening stroke. Huge thanks go to the Critical Stroke Unit at York Hospital and my wonderful family and friends for their amazing help. Clive received such vital support that day and still does with his recovery. He shows great strength and determination and Clive will be running the Great North Run on the 7th September with me and my youngest son Ed . Together as a whole family we hope to raise vital funds and awareness for the Stroke Association who helped us greatly in our darkest days. Any support you can give would be be amazing.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
