I'm taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2027 as part of #TeamStroke
Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. With strength, determination and the right support, recovery is possible.By taking on this challenge with Team Stroke, I'll be fundraising to provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care and support for everyone affected by stroke.

My grandma
Monday 5th OctAs many of you know, at the beginning of this year we lost our beloved Grandma. Our hearts will be heavy for a long time to come. My mum, my sister and I lost our safe space, and it’s difficult to put into words just how much her loss has affected us.
Grandma suffered a number of strokes, which led to seizures. The effects of her final seizure took our Grandma as we knew her.
Her first stroke took away her voice, her form of communication, and her independence. We watched her work so hard to rebuild those things, becoming stronger and more determined every day to get back to her old self. She was given some precious time to make memories with our little ones, before the seizures started again and another stroke changed everything.
Grandma was so quick-witted, full of personality and voice. I miss her wee voice every single day. Hearing her call Lily her “clever girl” is something I know I’ll hear in my heart forever.
In her memory, and to help support research into stroke, I have decided to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon in May 2027, raising money for the Stroke Association.
