I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!

I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Stroke prevention day!

Thursday 30th Jan
It’s Stroke Prevention Day today (Thursday 30th January) and the day I am publicly posting this fundraiser!

I thought I’d share an article that features a bit about my dad’s experience with stroke, the whole reason I am doing the stride for stroke challenge, and an appeal to check your blood pressure! Particularly if you have high blood pressure or a family history of stroke or high blood pressure.

The surname also got misspelled in this article, it’s O’Dell Btw….

correction of my name 😔

Tuesday 21st Jan
this is just me saying that I was waiting until I got paid to donate and I finally did it and then I spelt my own name wrong and obviously I can’t change it. so I just want to say my name is misspelled. Also my humorous message I included with my donation straight up did not show up. so all you can see is the ✊ emoji. sigh. fundraising is hard.

Intro

Friday 3rd Jan
My name is Amber! One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2025 was to try and raise some money for Stroke Association this year. My dad had a serious stroke at the end of 2023 which he has luckily recovered from thanks to our local hospital’s stroke ward, doctors, physiotherapists and local groups!

I’m aiming to try and achieve 1.3m steps in support of the 1.3m stroke survivors in the UK (it was 1.3m when I started this I actually think it’s 1.4 now?) I don’t know how long it will actually take me to achieve this goal but I am going to see it through ! I’m hoping to achieve this by the end of July, but we’ll see lmao. It says 10,000 steps a day for 130 days but lowkey it’s looking like 5000 steps a day for 260 days.

I’ll be primarily doing my steps through my usual form of exercise which is on a treadmill, but I’ll be trying to use this challenge to get myself to go out for more runs and walks! I’ve set a goal of £250 but I’ll be grateful for any money raised for this challenge! Thanks for reading 🫶

Also it made me put down a team so I put Team Amber and it is just me so ignore all the ‘We’s’ on the page 😭

Thank you to my sponsors
