AJ Bell Great North Run 2027

Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, crossing the iconic Tyne Bridge and ending at South Shields coast, this fantastic 13.1 mile route is filled with musical entertainment, charity cheer buses and thousands of spectators all rooting for you. It's not one to miss.

Register for one of our charity places in the AJ Bell Great North Run by paying a £40 registration fee and committing to raise the minimum sponsorship target of £400 (excluding gift aid).

Own place

If you have secured your own place from the AJ Bell Great North Run, we would love for you to join #TeamStroke. By registering with us as an own place participant, you will have no minimum sponsorship target. Instead, every pound raised will enable us to support stroke survivors on their recovery journey.

Junior and Mini Own Place

If your youngster has secured a place in the Junior or Mini Great North Run, let us know. With no minimum sponsorship target, we would love to support them (and you!).

As part of our AJ Bell Great North Run 2027 team, you will receive:
  • Support from a dedicated team.
  • Regular training tips and fundraising advice.
  • A Stroke Association running top to wear with pride on the big day.
  • Invitation to our virtual session to meet the rest of Team Stroke and help you feel prepared for the day.
  • An invitation to our post-event reception in the charity village, which includes a free welcome drink, massage, refreshments and snacks for all Team Stroke runners.
  • Massive cheers from our cheer bus team on route.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive a running vest to wear at the Great North Run?

Yes, we will send you a Stroke Association running vest approximately 8 weeks before the event. Own place runners will receive their free running top around the same time, so long as they have started fundraising.

Will you have a cheer point on the day?

Yes! We have a cheer bus on route and can't wait to cheer your name as you run past.

If you have family and friends who are interested in joining us at our cheer bus, they can register here. The more the merrier!
