TCS London Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2026.

In 2011 at the age of just 37, My mum had a stroke, it left her paralyzed on one side and only able to speak a few words at a time. With extreme hard work and determination she made a recovery to learn to walk and talk again but remains disabled and unable to walk or talk completely normally to this day. In my life, both as a family member of a stroke survivor and now working as a Paramedic, I have seen the devastating impact that stroke can have on a person, or in what is too often the worst cases, the family they leave behind. The Stroke association helped my mum and my family during her recovery and continue to do this for the 1.4 million stroke survivors UK wide.

Every single penny donated to this incredible charity will fund both the rehabilitation of survivors and research to prevent stroke.

While I can’t promise I’ll be competing for the win, I can promise I’ll do everything possible to get through the 26.2 miles. It won’t be easy but compared to those learning to walk and talk again or the families coming to terms with an empty seat at the dinner table, it’ll just be a big parkrun.

Thank you so much for your support,

This one’s for you mum.

“There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.”
