The London Marathon is one of the world’s largest running events and we’d love to have you join Team Stroke to take on this famous 26.2 mile route!

You’ll join more than 50,000 runners starting at Greenwich, taking in some of London’s most famous landmarks before finishing on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

Charity place

To apply for one of our limited charity places in the London Marathon 2026, please press the 'Apply' button below. We'll be in touch if we're able to offer you a place.

If your application is successful, you will be required to pay a £50 registration fee and commit to raising a minimum sponsorship target (excluding gift aid) of £2,500.

Own place

If you have secured your own place through TCS London Marathon directly, we would love for you to join #TeamStroke. Those who secure their own place will have no minimum sponsorship target, however every penny raised will help rebuild lives after stroke. We do however have a £300 minimum sponsorship requirement to attend our post-race party.

Frequently asked questions

Does applying for a charity place guarantee me a place in the 2026 TCS London Marathon?
add remove

No, completing our charity place application does not guarantee you a place. We will review applications and will communicate the outcome early June.

How can I improve my chances of securing a charity place?

add remove

Please include as much detail as possible in your application about why you wish to fundraise for the Stroke Association and how you will do this. We are looking for a breakdown on how you will reach the minimum fundraising target of £2,500. This could be bullet points regarding each fundraising activity and how much you think each will raise.

Is there any flexibility with the minimum fundraising target? Do I have to raise a minimum of £2,500? e.g. can I raise £1,500?

add remove

We need every charity place participant to raise at least £2,500. This is because as a charity we have to pay a significant amount of money to secure places in this event. Including other costs such as staff time, cost of materials, running tops, etc, without this minimum sponsorship we would be at a financial loss. We need to ensure all participants raise at least £2,500 to cover our costs and allow us to help rebuild more lives after stroke.

What should I do if I have been offered a charity place but then secure a place in the ballot?

add remove

Congratulations! Please let us know if you are lucky enough to secure a place via the ballot. We recommend that you use the ballot place so that we can allocate your charity place to someone else. You can still join #TeamStroke with a ballot place, and by offering the charity place to another person, this means that we can make #TeamStroke even bigger.

Will I receive a running vest to wear at the London Marathon?

add remove

Yes, you will be sent a Stroke Association running vest. This will arrive with you approximately two months before the event.

Will you have a cheer point on the day?

add remove

Yes! In 2025 we had a cheer point at Bermondsey and Canary Wharf. 2026 cheer points will be confirmed before the event - we LOVE cheering Team Stroke as they pass us but be warned, we're very loud.
