TCS London Marathon 2025

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

I started running last year, much like most runners it quickly became an obsession.

The London Marathon has always been on my radar but I never thought I'd have the opportunity to take part in such a monumental event so soon after starting my running journey.

When the Stroke associated called informing me I'd be representing them I couldn't be prouder.  Moreso than just running the marathon for personal competition and achievement, I am honoured to be running it for the stroke association for my families personal story.

I was 13 playing rugby when my Dad began to have his stroke on the side of the pitch.

It was shortly afterwards, going up the stairs in the clubhouse that we really noticed he wasn't well.

Thankfully due to the vigilant people with us and the quick response of the NHS he was able to get seen to and treated in a decent amount of time minimising the permanent damage.

I have been told the first 15 minutes are the most important when it comes to strokes which I agree with, but I think it's closely followed by the recovery treatment and this is why the Stroke association is so important to my family as well as many others.

The support and help were second to none.

This marathon is to say thank you for keeping my father with us
