I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2024!!!
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
Stroke is something that is very close to my heart as my mum is a stroke survivor. After having her stroke back in 2007 at the age of 60, we were told that on a scale of 1-10, her stroke was a 9! Luckily for us she pulled through and although she finds life a challenge at times, she is determined and we are blessed to still have her.
Last year, our friend and neighbour, Michael, also suffered a huge stroke. It was a very traumatic and sad time for his family and after battling for a year, he sadly passed away on the 11th March this year. A year to the day that he was admitted to hospital. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him...
Stroke Association support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. They believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so they work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. They rely on our support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
