The London Marathon is the world’s largest event, and we’d love to have you take on this world-famous 26.2-mile route!

You’ll join 50,000 runners starting from Greenwich, taking in some of London’s most famous landmarks before finishing on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

Charity place

We are no longer accepting applications for the TCS London Marathon 2024.

We are now in the process of reviewing applications and will be in touch with those who have applied to let them know the outcome of their application by mid August.

Own place

If you have secured your own place through TCS London Marathon directly, we would love for you to join #TeamStroke. Those who secure their own place will have no minimum sponsorship target, but everything you do raise will help rebuild lives after stroke. We do however have a £300 minimum sponsorship requirement to attend our post-race party.

Frequently asked questions

Does applying for a charity place guarantee me a place in the 2024 TCS London Marathon?
add remove

No, completing our charity place application does not guarantee you a place. We will be reviewing application and will let you know the outcome of your application by the end of October.

How can I improve my chances of securing a charity place?

add remove

In your application please include as much detail as possible about why you wish to fundraise for the Stroke Association and how you will do this. We are looking for a breakdown on how you will reach the minimum of £2,000. This could be bullet points of each fundraising activity and how much you think each will raise.

Is there any flexibility on the fundraising, do I have to raise a minimum of £2,000? e.g. can I raise £1,500?

add remove

We need every charity place participant to raise at least £2,000. This is because as a charity we have to pay a significant amount of money to secure these spaces. Coupled with with the staff time, cost of materials and many other costs, without this minimum sponsorship we would be at a financial loss. We need to ensure all participants raise at least £2,000 to cover our costs and allow us to help rebuild more lives after stroke.

What should I do if I have been offered a charity but then secure a place in the ballot?

add remove

Please let us know if you are lucky enough to secure a space in the ballot. We recommend that you use the ballot space and we can allocate the charity place to someone else. This means we can make #TeamStroke even bigger and you can still continue to fundraise for the Stroke Association.

Will I receive a running vest to wear at the London Marathon?

add remove

Yes, you will be sent a Stroke Association running vest. This will arrive with you approximately one month before the event.

Please note, if you registered as an own place runner or have requested to swap your running vest size after Tuesday 2 April 2024, unfortunately we will not be able to fulfil this.

Will you have a cheer point on the day?

add remove

Yes! We will have a cheer point along the route in Canary Wharf. We can't wait to cheer you on!
