I'm taking part in the Great North Run as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run.

I'm offering this support in memory of dear Mam, who passed almost two years ago after a stroke. She was 94, which is a great age, but of course, we all wish she could be with us still.

This is the place to help make sure more people survive stroke. Please be generous!

We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. But, of course, I have! Many times in fact! Done the Great North Run? Why? What did you think I meant? Really!! I'm surprised at you!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure this will be my last half marathon. At 70, I think I'll just be going out for fun in the future. I will still run, because I really like it and it keeps me from going to seed. But the training for the GNR has been time-consuming and not always convenient.

It's interesting, on reflection, to note that I'm still competing against myself. I haven't gone into this half heartedly and I'm still hoping for a respectable time. Here's hoping!

Thanks to everyone who has given me support for my chosen charity, the Stroke Association. It's an excellent cause. If me doing this helps in some way, then I'm more than happy to finish my half-marathon running days on such a note.
