Cardiff Half Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke

I joined #TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2026!

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My updates

Here we go........

Saturday 1st Nov
On the 1st of August 2024 my mother suffered a ischemic stroke we rushed her in to A+E and she was given the "Clot-busting" medicine to dissolve the Clot that was lodged in the left hand side of her brain.
Unfortunately it did not work, that morning she was given a Surgical Thrombectomy to save what they could that was left of my mother, we as a family were told to say our goodbyes as she may not make it as the stroke was catastrophic, after a successful surgery in the days that followed my mother was being fed through a tube with little movement and only able to say "yep" very slowly. The doctors and nurses were amazing but once she left hospital and was able to get home the aftercare was limited, Government cuts have left the stroke units with limited resources as to what they used to be able to give.
My mother has since been left with life-changing physical, cognitive, and emotional changes, that impeded her everyday life. Unable to converse as she used to and limited movement but still fighting daily to win this battle!

So to her and others out there still living and struggling to the ones we sadly lost. i want to raise as much money as possible to help us fight this debilitating illness ❤️
