I'm fundraising for...

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Worthing 10K 2025 Redemption Run

Sunday 8th Jun

Worthing 10K 2025 completed ☑️

Sunday 8th Jun
Absolutely stoked with how I got on today, managed to get round in 46.13!
A huge thank you to everyone that has sponsored me, supported me and encouraged me with their kind words.
To be able to raise money for such a worthwhile cause means the world to me.
Thank you all 🫶

Sunday morning 10K with some of PRC

Sunday 25th May
Brutal 10K done this morning.. huge amount of elevation so some walking done but a good test of my fitness level.
Two weeks until Worthing ⏰

My story

Tuesday 20th May
On the morning of Tuesday 25th February 2025 I suffered a stroke whilst at home.
Thankfully my wife has not yet gone to work and being a trained first aider recognised the signs of what was happening to me.
Admittedly throwing coffee over the floor is not a regular occurrence for me!
She called the ambulance and they arrived within 20 minutes before whisking me to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where I was greeted by two stroke doctors and pushed through for CT scans.
After suffering an adverse reaction in the scanner where I lost all feeling in my left hand side I was then taken back to A&E where I was thrombolysed- given anti clotting drugs- and within a short period of time I had movement back.
I remained in hospital for a couple of days before being discharged and despite suffering speech issues I worked hard to get myself back to a good physical condition and so my rehab work with both the community team and personally meant that I was back to walking distances with both my family and our dogs very quickly.
Prior to my stroke I was very active and enjoyed running and I am hopeful to get back to a decent standard as soon as possible.
I participate in the Worthing 10K most years and this year’s event falls on Sunday 8th June.
This will be 103 days after my stroke but I am determined to make my way through it and along the way hopefully raise some funds for a great organisation that support so many people in many different ways.
If you can spare a few pounds I would really appreciate your support as I think completing this will do both my mental and physical state the world of good.
Thank you for reading this 🙏
