I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon 2026 as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2026!
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
At the age of 42, my husband Daniel had a right occipital lobe stroke whilst competing in Ironman Wales 2025, he finished the course! The only symptom he had was loss of vision and I’m running the Cardiff half to raise awareness especially as he had none of the other symptoms associated with a stroke. Please help where you can to raise funds for this charity and support those affected especially young stroke survivors, thank you 😊

Thursday 23rd Oct I’ve missed out on a Cardiff Half 2026 ballot place but that hasn’t stopped me. At the age of 42 I never thought that my husband would have a stroke whilst competing in Ironman Wales (the event did not cause it) the fact he is so fit probably helped him. He’s the fittest person I know and I’m still trying to come to terms with the circumstances surrounding it all. Apart from a temporary loss of vision he is now back to swimming, cycling and running. He was extremely lucky and I want to raise awareness as he did not present to hospital with any other symptoms. Thank you for supporting me in my journey with this 😊 x ShareThank you to my sponsors
