Milly and Kaceys Half marathon in memory of Nanny Irene

Nanny Irene 18/09/38–25/11/25

On October 11th 2026 we will be taking on the AEPG Great Eastern half marathon in memory of our beloved Nanny Irene raising money for Stroke association to raise awareness. 

Nanny Irene was loved by so many people and brought kindness, love, and laughter to everyone who knew her. She would lighten up a room even by just walking in. She was the best mother sister, daughter, friend and Nan in the whole wide world on words can’t describe how truly forever missed she is. 

Nanny suffered a severe stroke and heart failure in August 2020, she showed true resilience and strength and never gave up. No matter how much pain she was in she always made sure everyone else around her was okay. She was a bundle of joy and you could always have a good laugh with her! She loved her country and western, Elvis and of course her vodka! She enjoyed going out for local shows or to have a boogie! Her all time favourite show was Mrs. Browns boys. But what she loved the most was her family and friends, she was truly the best woman in the world. 

Unfortunately in November 2025 Nanny Irene passed away and although our heart aches we find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is with some of her friends and family again. Running this half marathon is our way of honouring her memory, celebrating the amazing person she was, and helping raise awareness so that other families affected by stroke can receive the support they need. Every donation, no matter how small, means so much.
