I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I’ve put myself forward to run for #TeamStroke in the TCS London Marathon 2024.

I am running in memory of my Dad 5 years on from his passing in 2019 following a second stroke at the age of 66.

Dad had suffered from a first stroke 9 years prior. Thanks to the great care from the NHS and the guidance provided by the Stroke Association, he was able to make a full recovery, eventually returning to work and going back to doing all the things he loved. Our family are so grateful for all of those 9 years and memories we made with him during that time as it could have been so different - birthdays, celebrations, holidays, skiing trips, white water rafting! Not bad for a stroke survivor! (See photos!)

As a PE teacher in Maidstone, sport underpinned Dads life and he enjoyed nothing more than encouraging and coaching the next generation of school athletes. He also was a huge supporter of my sisters Lauren & Claire as they took on many running events over the years, which culminated in both completing the London Marathon in 2022 on behalf of TeamStroke in his memory also.

And so here I am merely following in their footsteps and trying to raise funds for a charity that we leant on as a family as we dealt with the consequences of our Dads stroke and passing, and asking for you to help provide an opportunity for other families to get the help they need to rebuild their lives after a stroke.
