Marathon Eryri 2026
Until my nan suffered a stroke in 2016, I didn’t understand how much it could change a life.
Over several years, I watched her health decline rapidly, losing mobility, speech, and much of the vibrant person she once was. Seeing the impact of stroke on her and our family was heartbreaking.
Before she passed away in March, I signed up for the Marathon Eryri (October 2026) as a way to honour her memory. This run is more than a race for me; it’s a tribute to her strength and a way to raise awareness and support for stroke survivors and their families. Running the marathon surrounded by the nature my nan loved and spent so much of her life exploring makes this challenge even more meaningful.
The Stroke Association helped empower my nan to see that her life wasn’t over - just different. With their support, and through her own sheer determination, she fought for years to maintain her independence and dignity. And she did so, amazingly.
I’m fundraising to support the Stroke Association, whose guidance and care have been a lifeline for my family throughout this journey. Your support will help provide vital resources for those affected by stroke and fund research to prevent strokes and improve recovery.
Please join me in celebrating my nan’s life and supporting those on their stroke journey. Every donation means the world.
This one’s for you, Nan.
