I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I am running the London Marathon on 21 April 2024 for the Stroke Association, in memory of my Grandad, Barry James.
In the UK, someone has a stroke every five minutes and the consequences are life changing. My Grandad suffered a severe stroke in 2014 that left him permanently paralysed and unable to communicate. He was never able to fully recover from the effects of his stroke, and in September 2022, we sadly lost him.
A year on from his passing, I want to run in my Grandad’s memory and raise money in supporting current and future stroke survivors rebuild their lives after such a life-changing event.
The Stroke Association is the UK’s leading stroke charity, delivering nationwide services in supporting stroke survivors rebuild their lives after a stroke. A Stroke is unlike most other health conditions, because it changes lives in an instant, and the impact of a stroke doesn’t stop with one person. The Stroke Association helps rebuild the lives of stroke victims, whilst also helping family and friends come to terms with such a sudden and traumatic event.
All donations are gratefully received for a cause that means a lot to me.
