I'm taking part in the Walk your Marathon challenge!
I joined #TeamStroke for Walk your Marathon, taking on 26.2 miles over 2 weeks.
I had a Hemorrhagic Stroke in late March 2023 and want to do this to help with my rehabilitation and to support the Stroke Association
Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Saturday 23rd Sep Day 1 - A great start completing 1.91 miles with glorious sunshine ShareIntroduction - Written by Heather (Marks Wife)
Sunday 10th SepMy husband Mark had a Hemorrhagic Stroke, his Blood Pressure dangerously high 242/154
Due to how quickly I contacted 999 knowing something wasn’t right, to the ambulance arriving super quick, the response from the resuscitation team, and stroke team, has all massively contributed to how well Marks recovery has been (in my opinion very well)
We have good days, we have bad days, the time has now come to challenge Mark with my support (as we are a team) to join #teamstroke and “Walk your Marathon Challenge” walking 26.2 miles over 2 weeks.
Which, to many doesn’t seem a lot, but I’ve watched this man relearn how to write, eat, walk, balance, get about daily life etc using his right side (which was severely damaged by the stroke) with adding in the mental health of knowing you aren’t the same person you were a few months ago. We’ve had many bumps in the road, but remain positive and not defeated.
Mark is determined to complete this in 2 weeks and hopefully by Sunday 15th October, we will in the meantime work on building up miles to ensure the 26.2 miles can be completed within 2 weeks.
We will update everyone once we start and each time walk, with the results of what has been achieved.
In the meantime any donation would be gratefully received
Thank you
Mark & Heather
