I'm taking part in the Great North Run as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2024.
Last July, my Father-in-law Jimmy suffered a stroke. After several months in hospital and continued rehab it has been a difficult journey which has impacted all of the family. Being able to represent the Stroke Association in the Great North Run, along with Anthony, Monica and Matt, this is an opportunity to support other families in similar situations.
It was just over 30 years ago that I last ran the Great North Run and in what will be my 50th year, this will be a real challenge. Every donation, no matter how small will keep pushing me towards the finish line! Thanks for all of your support! For Jimmy, Kate and all the Whelans / Joneses 🏃♂️➡️
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
