TCS London Marathon 2026

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

I suffered a stroke at the age of 43, therefore 2026 will be the 10th year anniversary of this occurring totally out of the blue. This totally shocked me, my family and friends. As an ex professional footballer I didn't think it would happen to someone who had kept fit and healthy for so many years, but it did and I have known a few other athletes to have suffered the same illness at a similar age following the conclusion of their professional sporting careers.

There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes, unfortunately 9 years ago

The Stoke Association was there to support me to rebuild my life after the stroke. I believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after a stroke, so the association works with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
