Cardiff Half Marathon 2026 Baaaaaaabyyy!! #TeamStroke
Friday 29th MayLast year in March, I suffered a TIA / minor stroke which
resulted in 5 weeks off work and completely changed my outlook on life.
I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle, with poor nutrition (eating and
drinking too much of the wrong things) and was losing control of my weight
(145kg or roughly 23 stone), which eventually caught up with me. During that
time, I felt very low at points and struggled with the feeling that I’d let my
family down, especially my little boy, Hadley.
He became my biggest motivation to get better, feel better and make immediate necessary changes in my life.
Since then, I’ve lost over 6 stone and started my running journey — something I never imagined I’d be able to do. Over the past year, I’ve gone on to complete several races including 10 mile events, half marathons, and most recently the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
I’m proud to now be running in support of the Stroke Association, a charity that provides lifelong support for stroke survivors and their families, funds vital research, and campaigns for better stroke care across the UK.
This charity run will mean more to me as it represents how
far I’ve come, both physically and mentally. By running on behalf of Stroke
Association it allows me to show my appreciation for all those who had a hand
in my recovery and continued support through this journey, with the opportunity
to give a little back for this great cause.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way — all messages,
donations, and encouragement welcomed and if in person, these will be followed
with a high-five, or hug…. Your choice!!

Go get it!!
