Stride for Stroke

I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!

I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Sleep tight Uncle Adrian

Thursday 21st Mar
Uncle Adrian fell asleep peacefully on the 29th February in dove house hospice surrounded by his family. We will miss you so much. You are free from pain now!! Love you always ❤️

This week

Saturday 13th Jan
I’m still plodding getting my steps in.. Adrian made me cry this week as his words to me were ‘I’m getting there kid’ even though muffled still could understand.. more movement on left leg still nil by mouth no movement on left arm. He’s awake bit more. Small progress but lovely to see. He’s fighting xx

Slight change

Sunday 7th Jan
Visited my uncle today and slight change with movement of his left side and he’s trying so hard to talk. Still tube fed and no water allowed. They are wonderful on the stroke ward and he’s being really cared for. Walked a good walk today with friends.  My friend raiding money for another charity so it’s great we are putting something back into the world x

Update

Saturday 6th Jan
Since the 27th December there hasn’t been much progress with my Uncle Adrian.. still can’t swallow but he is trying to speak. It’s really sad for us as a family to see but he is getting lots of care. I’ve been meeting my goals walking and feel I’m helping in that sense x

Uncle Adrian

Tuesday 2nd Jan
Christmas Day we sat as a family with my Uncle Adrian having a lovely day. 2 days later he’s in the high dependency ward after a massive stroke. He currently cannot speak, eat or move the right side of his body. Yesterday we saw him move his foot ever so slightly which for us to see was amazing. People who know me know how fond I am of my Uncle with his life stories he always told  me. Just raising a little money will make me feel better because I can’t do anything at this moment in time apart from sit next to hospital bed. They are doing amazing things in the hospitals with stroke patients. I know Adrian has a long way to go but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Just shows how your life can change. Please donate to support stroke victims. Thankyou xx
