I'm taking part in Sip for Stroke!
I joined Sip for Stroke.
Darren suffered a life threatening Intercranial Haemorrhage (or a bleed on the brain) on 21st January this year whilst driving home from work. Thankfully he was aware enough to stop and pull over and an ambulance was called. He was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital and within 11 hours was undergoing life saving surgery to remove the blood clot from his brain stem. He has been left with life changing effects and is currently having to learn how to walk again, his speech and swallowing functionality have been affected, his short term memory is awful, (although thankfully he manages to remember me!), and he is no longer the man I married 10 years ago. However, with the help of our wonderful NHS and the Stroke Association who have supported me through this, he is alive, and he will make a recovery although this will take a long time.
The Stroke Association do some wonderful work to help Stroke survivors and their families through what can be a horrendous time. Please donate if you can to support this work.
