I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!

I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

Hi everyone, as some of you know I did a 100mi fundraiser last year in memory of my nan and my stepmother.

This time I will be walking hopefully as many miles as I can for the Stroke association. This topic is dear to my heart as my first job at Worcester Royal Hospital was on the stroke ward. It wasn’t for long as I decided to kickstart my journey into becoming a nurse. There have been some challenges for me along the way but I’m willing to do my bit in giving back to the care I received while I was in hospital feeling very vulnerable, to those who have suffered strokes, are in hospital due to a stroke and for those that have been lost as a result to having a stroke.

Strokes can happen to anyone at any age so it’s important to remind others what the signs of stroke are so that if you were with or saw someone with the symptoms you can alert those who may be able to help in an emergency situation.

The following signs of stroke are:
FAST
Facial dropping - are they able to smile?
Arms - can they lift their arms up in the air?
Speech - is their speech slurred?
Time - acting fast in this situation to alert an ambulance crew.

I know many people contributed to the last fundraiser so I don’t expect much as I know these are trying times. But anything will help 💙
