In memory of my Dad, I'm taking part in the Bath Half Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
In March 2025 I will be taking part in the Bath Half marathon in memory of my Dad, Martin Goater, with the aim of raising money for the Stroke Association. By fundraising for the association, my hope is to give something back for the crucial work and fundamental research of this charity to aid stroke survivors and their families through traumatic, life-changing events to offer strength, support, and recovery.
On the 19th September 2021, my Dad unexpectedly suffered a severe brain haemorrhagic stroke. As a family, our lives had been torn apart and we had to deal with the heart shattering news that, if he made any sort of recovery, he would need 24 hour specialist care. On 25th September 2021, my Dad grew his wings and sadly left us. I’m hoping to fund raise as much as I can for the charity, in memory of my Dad and the amazing, inspiring, caring, and selfless man he was.
