I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!

I suffered an Ischemic Stroke on 7th January 2021. It has been a rough road to recovery with some very low "lows", but very high "highs".  To mark 4 years since my Stroke, I'd like to start getting back into shape and give something back and raise some money for the wonderful Stroke Association.

If you are in recovery or know someone who is, I hope that this page will inspire you as many survivors did for me when I was really poorly and prove that there can be and is life after a Stroke.

I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

My updates

4 weeks in

Thursday 6th Feb
I've been getting out and about when I've been able to. The weather hasn't helped as it's been very cold. My mum joined me for a walk this week and i've been playing Badminton to increase my steps with some great mates too!
I've picked up a cold so I don't think i'll be doing much over the next few days, but when i'm recovered i'll get back to it.
Thank you for all the support so far.

First week completed & Thank you

Wednesday 15th Jan
I've been doing this for a week and already the amazing support people have shown is incredible! I've been out every day in the past week getting my steps in, with Sunday as my rest day. My mate Tom joined me for a walk down the beach last night and luckily it wasn't too cold. My Fitbit app isn't syncing up to my page properly but be assured I'll add the daily steps manually. Thank you so much to those who have donated so far, let's keep going!

First day done

Tuesday 7th Jan
January 7th 2025, the anniversary of my stroke is always a huge day for me. I tackled it this year with a smile, starting this challenge, a nice lunch time walk in the warm winter sun, closed off after work with a stroll in the colder winds but still with a smile on my face

Thank you to my sponsors
