I'm taking part in the 2025 Great Birmingham Run as part of #TeamStroke
In December 2022, my Dad faced an unexpected challenge when he experienced three strokes in just three weeks. His recovery journey has been tough, but his resilience and strength have been truly inspiring. After spending four months in Heartlands Hospital, five months at Moseley Hall Hospital, and a short three weeks at Hunters Moor, as well as overcoming pneumonia, and returning to Heartlands Hospital in September 2024, he finally returned home in June 2024. Though he’s now paralysed, having him home with us is what matters most.
Every day, I am grateful to be able to see my Dad. He may not be able to do all the things he used to, but our spirit remains strong, and that’s what keeps us all going. My family has been through a lot, but we’ve faced it all together, which has only strengthened us. In celebration of his birthday (10th October), I’m taking on the Birmingham Half Marathon to honour him and everything he’s overcome.
My Dad is my role model—someone whose strength, courage, and positive attitude I admire deeply. This challenge is my way of showing him how much he means to me. This organisation has supported us during these tough times and been a pillar of strength. I’m hoping to raise as much as possible to support other families like ours.
Dad, you’ve always inspired me, and I hope I’m making you proud with this effort. Here’s to many more birthdays and moments together! Love you forever and always Dad x

We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
