I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I joined #TeamStroke for the Cardiff Half Marathon 2025!
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

RUNNING MY 1st 1/2 MARATHON FOR THE STROKE ASSOCIATION
Monday 1st SepNext Month, I’ll be taking on a huge personal challenge – running my very first half marathon in Cardiff. I’ve been training hard with my friends at Cornelly Striders, but this distance is well out of my comfort zone.
However, I’m lacing up my trainers for a cause that means a lot to me: the Stroke Association.
Stroke is something that has touched my life in a very personal way. My mum had a stroke in 2021 and I also work for the stroke Association. So, I’ve seen first-hand the impact it can have on someone’s life and on the people who love them.
Every mile I run is for her, and for the people I come in contact through my work, whose lives are changed in an instant. That’s what will get me through the finishing line.
Here’s just some of the incredible work the Stroke Association does:
- Support and recovery – offering helplines, local support groups, and information to help stroke survivors and their families cope with the practical and emotional challenges they face.
- Research – funding pioneering studies into prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, so we can improve outcomes and reduce the devastating effects of stroke.
- Campaigning – working with healthcare professionals, policymakers, and communities to make sure stroke survivors get the support and services they need to live their best lives.
- It’s about giving hope, practical support, and a voice to those who need it most.
If you’d like to support me on this journey, please consider donating to my fundraising page. Every pound raised will help the Stroke Association continue its life-changing work. Whether it funds a call to the helpline, a place at a local support group, or research that leads to better treatment – your support will make an impact.
Together, we can help ensure that stroke survivors and their families never face recovery alone.
Thank you so much for cheering me on – I’ll see you at the finish line in Cardiff! 💜
