I'm taking part in the Great Manchester Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I’m going to be running my first half marathon next year in May and considering this is my first I half have decided to do this through the Stoke association as it is something that is very close to my heart. 

As some of you may know my now 23 year old sister Hollie unfortunately had a stroke while she was on holiday in America in august 2023. It was something that we as a family never ever thought would happen as she is so young. It’s been over a year now, she had a long road of recovery but she is really doing amazing after many doctor and hospital appointments and she finally got the answers she needed as to what caused it and is having an operation to fix this very soon so that hopefully it never happens again! However she will be on medication for the rest of her life and it will be an event in her/our life’s as a family we will never forget! 

Having a stroke at her age is very uncommon and she is one of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes and this is why I want to try and raise money for the stroke association as even that little bit of help will go towards helping people get the best support and care after a stroke and the association reply on our support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research for preventative and rehabilitative treatments. 

I only started running at the end of May and it really has changed my life and I really want to challenge myself with the training and want to bring everyone on the ride with me!
