IM RUNNING THE CHESTER HALF MARATHON 🏁🫡

This year I’m running a half marathon in support of the Stroke Association, a cause that has recently become very personal to me and my family.

Earlier this year, my nan suffered a stroke that suddenly took away her speech and affected her cognitive ability. Seeing someone so full of life, who’s been so active my entire childhood, struggle to communicate and remember things was incredibly difficult for all of us. It hit home that a stroke can change everything in an instant.

Thankfully, with treatment and support, she is now on the road to what doctors hope will be a full recovery ❤️‍🩹🤞. Watching her slowly regain parts of herself, to the independent strong woman I know she is, has been inspiring. Yet it has also shown me just how devastating strokes can be and how much support families need during recovery.

The Stroke Association does incredible work supporting stroke survivors and their families, funding vital research, and helping people rebuild their lives after stroke. The support they provide can make an enormous difference during some of the most difficult moments families face. While also extending into research towards causes and early recognition.

Running a half marathon is definitely going to be a challenge for me, given that i’ve never ran more than 10km 🫣, but it feels small compared to the challenges stroke survivors overcome every day. If my training and race can help raise money to support others going through similar experiences, it will be more than worth it.

Any donation, big or small, would mean so much and will go towards helping stroke survivors access the support they need and funding research that could prevent strokes in the future.
