Strokes in young people

Wednesday 27th Nov
A year ago today on my 28th birthday, I had a stroke.

Last year I went to A&E with what I thought was a trapped nerve. After 18 hours and multiple doctors trying to discharge me, despite my symptoms worsening. I was transferred to a specialist stroke ward that confirmed I had an ischemic stroke, where a blood clot had cut off the blood supply to the right side of my brain.

The support from family, friends and the Stroke Association has meant that tasks such as learning to climb the stairs, walking independently and regaining my confidence and sense of purpose have been made much easier over the past year.

Please support me running the Great Manchester Half Marathon. I will be raising awareness that regardless of age or health, strokes can happen to anyone. Please sponsor me and donate to the Stroke Association, so that they can continue to provide expert support to individuals (like me) and families who have been impacted by strokes.

Thank you to my sponsors
