I'm taking part in the Great North Run 2025 as part of #TeamStroke

I am proud to have joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run 2025.

I have experienced the impact of stroke twice, firstly losing my Grandad to a stroke in my early teens.

In May 2022, two months before my 19th birthday, my Mama suffered a stroke. Luckily I knew the signs to look out for and rang for an ambulance enabling her to get the fast treatment she needed. My Mama was able to recover and live an independent life after ongoing support from the hospital and our supportive family.

I would like to raise awareness of stroke so people of all ages know the key signs to look out for that could in turn save a loved one’s life.

Did you know there are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year? That's one stroke every five minutes.

Please read below to see how the Stroke Association supports stroke survivors and their families;

“We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.”
