I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
5 years ago my Nonna suffered a stroke and our families life was changed forever. She is now unable to walk, talk or do anything for herself. My Mum became a full time carer overnight and my Nonna lost all the independence she once had. Seeing the effects of a stroke firsthand has been truly heartbreaking.
In the last five years my Nonna has had speech therapy, physical therapy and initially needed assistance eating and drinking. By raising money for the Stroke Association I hope to help them support more people to rebuild their lives after a stroke and make sure people affected by strokes get the very best care and support.
Please help me raise money so they can provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
As many of you know I am NOT a runner, so this is not an easy task for me, but I am running because I am fortunate enough to be able to. Some people don't have that luxury.
