I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!
I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be
taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK.
The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.
The Stroke Association has helped my family so much over the last year.
Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild
their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life
they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people
affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support
to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research
into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
Stroke is the UK's fourth biggest killer. Next year
the cost of stroke in the UK will be £43 billion. By 2035 the cost will rise to
£75 billion. Stroke care is often overlooked and the current care is
underfunded, understaffed, under-prioritised. More needs to be invested in
prevention, treatment and rehab in order to save lives and improve life quality
for future stroke survivors. Currently this is a lottery depending on where
you live and can be so little for some of those who aren't so lucky and so
needed. Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives
after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after
stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by
stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide

preventative and rehabilitative Dad was so lucky with the support he has got so
far!

July Update
Tuesday 13th AugGood evening all,
I hope you're well.
I just wanted to send a quick update, after my last message. This time, just over 3 weeks ago, two colleagues and I had just finished walking the towpath of the Grand Union Canal, making our way from Milton Keynes to Padington. The first day was tough, getting to Euston for 6.20am and then walking from Milton Keynes to Berkhamsted starting at 7.15am and finishing at 8.30pm, 77,664 steps done which was nearly 59km/36miles in total for the day! Over the 3 days we did 167,592 steps, which was 123km or nearly 76.5miles!!!! It was a rollercoaster of a journey with blisters, the heat, a dodgy knee, missed alarms but such good fun!
Since the beginning of July, I have done 612,956 steps and I just wanted to say an overall HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I have reached just under an amazing £1k for the Stroke Association and £405 for the Springboard Charity event that started this whole walking challenge in the first place!
I am still going for the Steps for Strokes, determined to get to the 1.3million mark for this amazing cause so please do continue to donate and I will update you on how I have done this month in a couple of weeks time.
Thank you to my sponsors
