I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
The Stroke Association is a charity that is close to my heart. My Nan (Maureen Chandler) passed away last year and she was so many things to so many people, but for me she was funny, loving, strong and the most wonderful grandmother you could ever wish for.
Back in 2014 she suffered a catastrophic stroke. The aftermath that followed was months of rehabilitation and adapting to a new normal. The stroke left her unable to communicate as she could before and paralysed down one side of her body.
Despite the odds that were given to her and the limitations of her disabilities, she managed to live independently with the care of my Grampy Roy, Mum and Auntie for 10 years.
Her resilience, determination and strength to make the best of those year are something I will always be completely in awe of.
So on the 5th October I will be running the Cardiff Half for her and the Vital work that Stoke Association do for the people affected by strokes and their loved ones supporting them.
So anything you can give will be massively appreciated in reaching our goal!
