I'm taking part in the Brighton Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I have decided to join my sisters in honour of my grandma, who if it hadn't of been for a stoke would have been celebrating her 100th birthday next year.
Also having worked with many stroke victims and their families during my nursing career I have witnessed first hand the effect a stroke has not only on the person but all of those close to them. I want to raise money not only in grandmas memory but also for all those who have been affected by stroke. I have never done anything like this before so it’s defiantly going to be a challenge but compared to the challenges stroke families tackle everyday, it’s nothing. I joined #TeamStroke for the Brighton Marathon 2026.
There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
