I am joining #TeamStroke for the Great North Run this September!
100,000 strokes happen in the UK each year and they are the leading cause of death and disability. There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, many with severe long-term impacts.
Stroke association supports people to rebuild their lives after a stroke. They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care, and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
This is a cause that is very important to me. My Granny died from a stroke in 2013 and I wanted to do something in her memory. I also had the opportunity to do a placement with stroke patients last December. I worked in hyper-acute stroke and rehab with some amazing teams but I got to see the damage that strokes can do.
That is why I’ve decided to be the millionth person my age to run a half marathon!!
