I'm taking part in the Great North Run as part of #TeamStroke on 8 September 2024
A stroke can affect anyone of any age and is a condition that has affected several members of my family. This year, I’ll be running the Great North Run on my 29th birthday to raise money for a charity close to our hearts.
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That’s one stroke every five minutes.
Stroke Association support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. Everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. Stroke Association works with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. Stroke Association relies on our support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
Although I love to keep fit, I am not a natural runner and running 13.1 miles will be challenging. But, it’s for a good cause that has helped me and loved ones. It’s great to be able to give something back and show the charity how much its help and support is appreciated.
