I joined #TeamStroke for the Great North Run.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

After 3 years of injuries, health issues and the devastating loss of my parents I am struggling to get myself to the focus on the finish.

GNR has always felt special to me and it is pushing me to keep going through the difficulties and get round to ensure vital funds for people, like me, who have experienced Strokes..

10 miles today was a struggle and am reaching out to friends and family to help me get my total and finish in South Shields in just two weeks…

Any donation will be really appreciated and received with huge thanks.

I am a survivor

Tuesday 27th Feb

After suffering a stroke in 2019 I recovered well and things improved immensely in my life. Back to running just after 9 days and feeling a renewed sense of life and perspective, embracing a new love of cycling and exercise I felt better than ever… fast forward to February 2024 and I’m back to re-starting and trying again.

Things I took for granted have become obstacles and challenges to overcome but I’m determined and focused to train better, sleep better, be better and give something back to the Stroke Association who always enable me to see a way forward and support me
