I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
Both of my parents suffered from TIAs (commonly known as mini-strokes) towards the back end of 2022, doing so within a month of each other.
There has often been a feeling of helplessness, but I have now joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2024 to do my bit and raise money for Stroke Association.
Many families will have been in a similar situation to mine, as there are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
Personally, completing the marathon will be a major milestone in my own mission to improve my fitness and relationship with my body. I had neglected my physical health for years before awkwardly stepping into my local gym in August 2022, so being in the position to take on this challenge for a cause so close to me is truly special.
Stroke Association supports people in rebuilding their lives after stroke, working with the stroke community to make sure people affected get the very best care and support.
Any donations will be massively appreciated and contribute to Stroke Association providing vital services, campaigning for better stroke care and funding research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
