I'm taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon and The Wales Triathlon as part of #TeamStroke
I’m taking on a huge challenge to raise funds for the Stroke Association by completing a half marathon and a 70.3 triathlon. This charity is incredibly close to my heart, as both my gramp and father have been impacted by strokes. In 2019 my gramp had his first stroke which impacted his mobility slightly and his vision in both of his eyes making him less independent. However, he went on to suffer another mini-stroke in 2023 which took an impact on his health. In February 2021 my father suffered a blood clot on the brain which resulted in a stroke on the right side of his body which has left him unable to walk or talk. Overtime this has improved with limited mobility and speech. with Their experiences have had a profound effect on my family, and it’s motivated me to take action in support of those affected by stroke.
They are both incredible people to me and both a big figure in my life who have always been there for me and pushed me to be the best version of me.
Stroke can change lives in an instant, but the work that the Stroke Association does helps improve the lives of those living with the aftermath. From providing support for patients and their families to funding vital research, they are making a real difference.
By taking on this physical challenge, I hope to raise awareness and funds that will contribute to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by stroke. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the Stroke Association continue their vital work to help ensure anybody going through this gets the best possible care and assistance they can.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world to me and to so many others who are touched by stroke. Thank you for supporting me on this journey.
