Stride for Stroke

I'm taking part in the Stride for Stroke challenge!

I joined #TeamStroke for Stride for Stroke. I will be taking one step for each of the 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK. The 1.3 million steps challenge works out at 10,000 steps a day for 130 days.

Stroke Association is here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.

The great stroke

Friday 5th Jan
On the morning of 17th June 2023 I suffered my second stroke which would have been fatal had there been no one at home. whilst my partner was on the phone to the emergency services I was still in denial that I was suffering a second stroke because it was first thing in the morning I was getting ready for work and thought I had tripped over something. The whole experience that morning didn’t feel like the first stroke in 2009. The rest is pretty much a blur until waking up in Southampton general to be told I had just had a massive blood clot removed in the main artery behind the eye. Still in denial. Just over 7 months recovering still lots of tests, feels like a long road but setting myself little goals.
