I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
I'll be running the marathon in April for my grandad Arthur.
He had a stroke in January and despite originally showing signs of improving, his health has deteriorated over the weeks and sadly, is no longer expected to leave the hospital.
(Update since I first made this page- Arthur passed away at the end of February. He was very loved and I’ll miss him loads)
At age 80, I made Arthur climb Pen Y Fan with me in Wales (the highest peak in South Wales) he made me promise that I would go back and climb it when I reach 80. I really need to keep my fitness up over the years till I can tick off that promise so I guess this is good training.
He is one of my favourite people in the whole world and it's been very sad seeing someone you love deteriorate from the aftermath of a stroke.
So I am hoping to raise some money to help the other 1.4 million stroke survivors and the families affected in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
I'd be so grateful for any donations or even a song recommendation to get me through the longer runs.
