TCS London Marathon 2025

I'm taking part in the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke

The Stroke Association is a charity very close to my heart, and I know first hand how devastating stroke is for families, my own included.

When I was in my teens, my Dad faced this life-threatening condition, suffering a major stroke that impacted his language, sight, cognition and mobility. Fortunately, my Dad was already in hospital when he suffered a stroke thus was able to receive care instantaneously.

Thanks to the work of organisations such as the Stroke Association and their support regarding rehabilitation and post-acute care, my Dad, a relatively young stroke patient, was able to make an amazing recovery.

Their support is crucial in addressing not just the immediate aftermath of a stroke, but also the long-term consequences for both the victims and their families, providing a much needed practical help and support for all aspects of life.

That’s why I joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2025.

There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.

The Stroke Association are there to support people in rebuilding their lives after stroke, working directly in the community to make sure people affected get the very best care and support.

They rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
