Mr Wobbly takes on the TCS London Marathon as part of #TeamStroke
Mr Wobbly has joined #TeamStroke for the TCS London Marathon 2024.
Having been my own worst enemy and reach 21 stone it seemed the ideal time to run a marathon. When the Stroke Association is saying, for the small sum of £2k, you to can run, skip or dance your way through 26.2 miles of London's amazing scenery - and the docklands as well, who wouldn't?
So far in training it has been concluded I need a new back, new knees and a new brain. I don't see why I need a new brain as this one is hardly used.
It is not about the finishing time, it all about making friends en-route and helping towards preventing strokes and making full recovery a closer prospect. And I still want a respectable time!
There are over 1.3 million stroke survivors in the UK, with 100,000 strokes happening in the UK each year. That's one stroke every five minutes.
We're here to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke, so we work with the stroke community to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support. We rely on your support to provide vital services, campaign for better stroke care and fund research into preventative and rehabilitative treatments.
